General Questions:Do I need an iPad?Yes, the iPad is required course material. All academic programs use apps that are not available on a laptop or PC. I already own an iPad. Can I use it for my coursework?If you're an undergraduate day student, a Lynn-issued iPad is required to ensure you have access to all course materials. If you're a graduate or online student, you may use your own iPad. Contact IT Support Services for personal device requirements. Can I use my existing Apple account?Yes; however, we encourage you to set up a new account if you share your account with family members. If you're an international student, you must establish a U.S. Apple ID. Can I choose the color of my iPad?No. Customization, including color selection, is not available on Lynn-issued iPads. Will I receive any accessories with the iPad?Undergraduate day students will receive a Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil. Graduate students will receive a Bluetooth keyboard. How do international online and graduate students obtain an iPad?Students outside of the U.S. must obtain their own devices. Can I keep the iPad when I graduate?Students who started at Lynn in fall 2016 or later, as well as online and graduate students, can keep their iPad upon completion of their degree. When will I receive my iPad? Undergraduate day students will receive their iPads during new student orientation. Online and graduate students can have their iPad shipped to a U.S. address or pick up their device during the first week of each semester. The instructional materials fee is required for pick up and due two weeks prior to the start of the term. iPad pickup is available 8 a.m.–6 p.m., on the first floor of the library. What fees are associated with the iPad?iPads are included in tuition fees for undergraduate day students. Online and graduate students must pay a $100 instructional materials fee prior to the start of classes. What if I leave the university?You must return your iPad to IT Support Services upon notification of departure. You may choose to keep your iPad for a fee and should inquire with Student Financial Services regarding the balance due. Can I install Lynn apps on another device that I own?Yes, you can access Lynn-provided apps on any Apple device. Log in using the same Apple ID that you use with your coursework. What is included on the iPad?Your iPad will come with instructions that help you configure it for use with Lynn's classroom environment, security, Wi-Fi (if applicable) and email. This includes an app called "Jamf" that provides access to other pre-paid or faculty-recommended apps. Will I need to purchase textbooks?Nearly all of our courses have e-books, which provide significant cost savings. If your course requires you to purchase a textbook, this will be indicated when you log into the online bookstore to purchase course materials.Will the iPad have a data plan?No. iPads are Wi-Fi enabled, so no data plan is required. Lynn has a state-of-the-art wired and wireless network that ensures you will have a reliable and fast connection anywhere on campus. Students studying off campus must have access to a wireless Internet connection. Who is responsible for loss or damage of the iPad?You are responsible for the device, and you need it for your coursework. Lynn will determine on a case-by-case basis any fees to cover iPad damages or losses. Fees may be higher for multiple repairs on one device or multiple replacements for one student.
