About the School:

Los Medanos College is a public institution established in 1974. It is based in Pittsburg, California, and has its main campus located on a 120-acre land, including another center in Brentwood. The college has an average class size of 28 and enrolls approx. 9,000 students annually.

Students can choose degree programs in areas of study, including administration of justice, arts, automotive technology, biology, business, chemistry, child development, computer science, counseling, humanities, journalism, and many others. Los Medanos has an acceptance rate of 100%, making it easily approachable for most students. In addition, it has a gender distribution of over 40% male and over 50% female.

The tuition & fees for in-state students are charged at around $1,300, and out-of-state students pay around $8,500, which is comparatively cheaper than many other colleges in the US. On top of that, more than 50% of its undergraduate students are awarded grants or scholarships.

Online Presence:

LMC uses Canvas learning management platform for its online classes. The college offers both online and hybrid courses. You will have to check your particular course details to see if it's online or hybrid. Also, financial assistance is provided to online students. But to be eligible, you will need to be a first-time college student, be enrolled in a minimum of 12 units for the fall term, complete FAFSA application. There are other requirements as well. Laptop Programs:

Los Medanos College has created an emergency Covid-19 fund to support students to get laptops for educational purposes. This program was launched to facilitate students who don’t have proper access to a computer. To know more about the program, visit the covidfund page.

Accreditation:

Los Medanos College has accreditation from the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
