About the School:

College of the Canyons is a 2-year public institution based in Santa Clarita, California. Opened in 1969, it is a part of the California Community College system. It also covers a 367-square-mile service area. With an annual enrollment of over 33,400, the institution offers 242 associates degrees and certification programs.

The college provides degree programs in the areas of study, including arts, business, humanities, kinesiology, math, science & health, social science, and technology. It offers a student-to-faculty ratio of 26:1 and has a gender distribution of over 50% male and over 40% female.

Online Presence:

The college offers two types of fully online classes. The first one is the “OnlineLIVE,” which requires students to participate in live classes via Zoom. These classes are time listed in the course schedule. The other one is the normal “online” class, where there are no live meetings. Laptop Programs:

College of the Canyons has 600 laptops available to lend to students who need them to conduct their online classes. The college had first contacted students on financial aid and those who didn’t have any online or hybrid classes. Not all laptops were distributed. So, the currently available laptops are loaned on a first-come, first-served basis. If laptops aren’t available anymore, the college will start the waiting list and provide the laptops once more arrive on campus. Accreditation:

College of the Canyons has accreditation from the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) and Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
