Colleges are learning that when students have access to the right technology it makes a huge difference in the student’s success. Here are some new colleges that offer laptop programs.
Seton Hill- Greensburg, Pennsylvania
A Catholic liberal arts university located in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, Seton Hill offers the Mobile Learning @ the Hill Technology Program. Through this program, faculty are provided with and iPad and/or a MacBook and are trained to incorporate the resources into their classes. St. John’s University – Queens, NY
Located in Queens, New York, St. John’s University is a private Catholic four-year research university, offering more than 100 bachelor, master, and doctoral degree programs and boasting over 20,000 students. St. Johns offers the Academic Computing Initiative to all new incoming undergraduate students and transfer students. Students can choose between an Apple or Windows machine although recommendations are made depending on their degree program. Students are charged a laptop usage fee which covers an extended warranty, on-campus support services, and 4-year accidental damage protection. Upon graduation students keep the laptop. Northwest Missouri State University – Maryville, Missouri
Offering more than 120 degree programs, Northwest Missouri State University is a public university located in Maryville, Missouri. All students, both full-time and part-time, enrolled in Northwest are provided with a laptop computer. Computer models vary depending up enrollment status and availability. Support for hardware and software is provided on campus and is free of charge. Laptops must be returned by the last day of finals week unless they are pre-registered for the next semester. Southern Nazarene University – Bethany, Oklahoma
Southern Nazarene University is a Christian liberal arts college with a student body of approximately 2,000 students. With an open admission policy, SNU accepts all students who apply and show proof of a high school diploma. A 2009 report found that SNU had the 8th highest graduation rate among non-competitive institutions in the United States. SNU students have access to special pricing for through a negotiated plan with Dell or they can bring their own laptops to campus.
